You are always right on my wavelength, Roy. This idea figures prominently in the middle grade novel I’m working on from Lew’s semi-imagined perspective. Stay tuned ;)
This piece is absolutely what I needed to read in these hideous times. The intricate things you catch and explore for deeper meaning— I feel more than ever that you and Lew are a magical and clandestine pairing. Only note: didn’t you win the Trout Derby in ‘82? How can you say you can’t bait and cast?!
At the risk of the 1982 Andover Trout Derby stripping me of my top prize (tackle box), Dad did 100% of the baiting and casting that day. I was in it for the post-derby donuts.
Thanks for reading and sending me my Lavenders, Beezy 💜 We are a destined pair! You're right! And I am def lucky for my most wise not-so-little muse.
As someone whose Big Deal scale is also out of whack and who has given out *so* many fish—so many, many fish—I felt this in my bones. And while I will never touch Lew's zen and wisdom and lyricism, I agree with him on two fundamental points: nothing supersedes the greater good, and Grover *is* silly.
Feel like a "Tao of Lew" ought to be in the works...

Awww…so good! Not sure how many conversational laps we have done..but I think I’m an ultra-marathoner!

The greater good! I love that and your writing.

Lew would like a meeting to discuss.
Thank you for my dose of Lew-ism this morning, much needed. And as a wholesale fish-giver, no judgment here. And heads up, we had 2 owls this weekend!
2 OWLS!! how’d you sleep?
Wouldn’t want to be handing out fish with anyone else;)
